Upo, 22nd of Jeha in the Year 305 G.D.
This adventure takes place in the town of Forthcwen. Forthcwen is considered a small city run by guild leaders and religious figures, although a few nobles fight each other over power under their rule. However, some of the nobles are said to be corrupt and are rumored to have imprisoned magic folk, as well as executed and enslaved said creatures, just as The Green Crystal Keep and the lands outside of Neci. In addition to this, no house of nobles plays fair and in fighting between houses is commonplace.
Our events take place in the Keep of House Zenia. The party has been contracted through the Adventurer's Guild to provide extra security during the ball. Unbeknownst to the players or the house, a spy from another house of an attending noble is going to try to sabotage the night in an attempt to ruin the evening. Set up as guards by Lord Aldor, our heroes have just set on the long tedious journey of notoriety. Although nothing is known of their histories, this band of misfits has come together for one purpose-money. We begin with the band of brothers, Astal Hallow, the rogue, his brother Calem Hallow, a child with an innate ability for sorcery, and their good friend Erebus, a cleric of Innir. They are joined by those of a non-human variety, Etarase, the dwarven fighter, and Silica Vasael, the half-elf druid.
The party starts with nobles attending to their common gossip, when a scream lets out from the kitchen. A servant was knocked asunder as an interloper fled through into the basement. The smell of burnt food resonated in the air as the servants entered a state of mild hysteria. Following the intruder into the basement, the rag-tag band of bodyguards lost track, only barely noticing a small crevice along one of the walls. This led to a mysterious room full of cages, record books, and stacks of gold, to which the party (or most of it) left undisturbed. Further on was a tunnel of hay, where they were swarmed by rats, which were quickly extinguished by means of sword and flame. Following the tunnel, there was a passage to above ground, with no signs of the spy. Quickly accompanied by the group's dog, they were told to rejoin the festivities by one of Lord Zenia's guards.
The night continued on, punctuated with a small disturbance in the bathroom with a trapped stall. After waking their fallen comrade, the party was sent to the stables, where they saw the mysterious figure fleeing towards the hedge garden, and quickly pursued. Some followed directly, while others went the long way, getting caught up by twig blights. In the center of the maze, the group caught up with the spy, only to see his noble benefactor as well. With little talk, they slew the couple, raiding a few things from their bodies and reporting their discoveries to Lord Aldor Zenia.
