Lord Zenia has yet again submitted a request for services, this time to gather documents from the late Lord Yiruin Aldetis. Having worked with the party before, he offers the job to them first.
He also includes a little history about the estate, and a promise of 50 gp each as payment. The history included is as follows:
Lord Yiruin Aldetis, one of the late nobles of Forthcwen, has an estate where he stays after a social event or in the winter. For the remainder of the year, he lives northwest of the city on his ranch. The Aldetis Estate is famous for its grand design, its generous feasts, and its nigh-legendary wine cellar. Even though the master of the house only abides here on occasion, the estate is full of life year round: it is a base of operations for Yiruin’s daughter, Kallah.
Also included is the family’s crest:
The party may enter the estate whatever way they choose, fulfill their objectives inside, then escape before they are noticed.
The party approaches the manor, having chosen to work for Lord Zenia again instead of taking up a miscellaneous missing children job posting at the Traveling Alliance. The road grew less crowded and loud as they approached the richer neighborhoods, steadily changing on either side of the street to great, extravagant manors. They came upon a particularly grand manor, with its dark wood-and-stone walls and iron gate. A small plaque recognizes the place as the Aldetis Estate. At once, in the height of the day, the group tosses a couple party members over the fence, hoping for a little reconnaissance.
They are immediately faced with a wolf, who is keeping its distance but growling in warning. The yard itself is shaded and secluded by massive elm trees. The grass is cut with care, and the trees are obviously taken care of. After a short time in the yard, the two members over the fence had to quickly scale one of the trees in order to avoid being seen by one of the Estate’s guards. Having to wait until the guard finished his routine of checking on the wolf, the cleric outside the gate tries to get his attention, realizing quickly that the guard has no interest in conversing.
Once the guard went back inside, the remainder of the party scaled the wall, quickly realizing the threat of the wolf. They decided to silence the wolf with a quick death, instead injuring it and alerting the guards inside. Once the second guard realized the threat to the manor, she alerted the city guards and retreated until their arrival. Just as the party slaughtered the wolf, a troop of 19 city guards arrives, let into the yard by the first guard, and arrests the entire party, save one, whom stayed hidden in the tree for the battle of the wolf.
